Let's face it, college is expensive....Really expensive. On average 1 year in a traditional 4 year college is rising up towards $30k a year....A YEAR!!!
And with the economy shifting into a new era of industries and forward progression college degree's are not what they used to be in the workforce.
No longer can you just go to college, graduate and get a job paying $70k.Now more times than not, in order to make an income like that you'll need a Master's degree. Which in turn will cost you another $80-90k!
More times than not, if you have a Bachelor's degree, you'll still make around $14-18 an hour. Which isn't a terrible wage, but if you factor in any student loans, rent, car payment, utilities, any fun money, vacations...you're now looking at barely getting by.
So what is happening? Some are calling it a shift into a more skilled type trade industry, and others are just considering getting a better career outlook by jumping right into a career they can get a certification or license in, and make over $50k a year.
I'm not a fan of trying to entice or lure potential students into taking a licensure course because of yearly income goals. Because those income goals can be skewed by the amount of work you put in, and where you're offering services. But I can tell you by the end of the year that I began offering Microblading in Virginia Beach, by 2016 I was making a 6 figure yearly income.
Is this the norm, probably not. But why not jump into a career that has this potential if you work smart, learn from someone who is doing what you wanna do, and pour yourself into this amazing industry.
I'm a big advocate of educating others, and sharing what actually works in order to run a successful beauty business. I believe that there is enough success for anyone who goes out and gets it. And I'm ready to share what has worked for me, so it can work for others.
So are college degree's dead...maybe not if you want to be a lawyer, doctor, psychiatrist or another high level income earning career path. But for me getting licensed as an Esthetician, and then specializing in eyelash extensions and then microblading was game chancing for me. And I cannot wait to show you how it can be for you.
